Secura encourages artistic expression. Each year, works are bought of an artist we consider interesting. At the Secura offices an exhibition is organized to display the artist’s work.

2009: ELKE MATTHIJS

Elke Matthijs was born in Louvain in 1978. In 2001 she completed her studies in Fine Art at the Art School of Sint-Lukas in Brussels. Even though she likes expressing herself in various disciplines using different materials, she considers herself above all a sculptress.
What better way to discover the essence and origin of her works than to listen to the artist herself?
Elke: 'I could well say that creating works of art is my never-ending passion. I wake up with this passion in the mornings and take it to bed in the evenings. I use anything I am carrying for drawing. Piles of sketch-books are waiting to be worked out into bigger pen drawings or paintings. My hands are itching continuously.
